On The Homefront

The Household Saints were a Band of diverse influences including Rock & Roll, Blues, Folk Rock, Folk and Country Rock. With deep tones and diverse melodies, the Household Saints were poised to make a strong presence into the Calgary and Canadian music scene. They played live at numerous clubs and venues in and around Calgary.

Their self titled full length CD was recorded at Sundae Sound Studios in Calgary Alberta. They had first released Tales from the Humble Abode followed by Bits and Pieces. They were then followed by a 4 song CD called Gravity. The Household Saints then went into Sundae Sound Studio to record the full length self titled CD.

The music was written by Don Seager, Shane MacAulay, Bob Bazinet, Jeff Burns and Sean Nason of the Household Saints. All lyrics where written by Henry Lees. Sean Nason wrote the lyrics for Can’t Say Goodbye, Time Again. Shane MacAulay joined the band in 1999 after the release of the 4 song CD Gravity to replace Sean Nason. All songs were arranged and produced by the Household Saints.

The funding for the recording of all above releases was provided equally by all members, respectfully, of the Household Saints.

Tales from the Humble Abode contained the songs Parallel World, A Dry Season, Little Freedom and Market Stall.
Bits and Pieces contained the songs Little Freedom, Can’t Say Goodbye, The Tempest Unwinds, Time Again, Flesh and Bone and Please Pardon Me.
Gravity contained the songs Turn on a Dime, Gravity, A Childlike Face and Underground.
Household Saints self titled CD contained the songs Gravity, Parallel World, Give it Back Someday, Bittersweet Angel, Turn on a Dime, Underground, A Childlike Face, Blue Skies, Mistaken Identity, I’m Not Surprised, Market Stall and Flesh and Bone.

In 2002, the Household Saints stopped performing as Henry Lees decided to relocate to Toronto to further his professional career.
Shane MacAulay then moved to Toronto to follow his love for his musical career.

Don Seager, Jeff Burns and Bob Bazinet are still writing songs together to this day. Jeff Burns has turned out to be quite the lyricist. Don Seager records and engineers all our songs at his home studio on his Yamaha AW4416.

Household Saints Achievements

In 2001, the Household Saints signed a contract to have the song Gravity used as background music for the syndicated television series Caitlin’s Way. This Series has become very popular, and the registered members of the Household Saints have received SOCAN royalties from countries such as Japan, Netherlands, USA, Canada, Hungary, France, and Malaysia.

The Household Saints have also independently sold CD’s of both their 4 song CD and their full length self titled CD at their live shows. The Rose & Crown in Banff was our top sales venue with CD’s being purchased from tourists from all over the world. Most of these CD’s were personally signed by all members of the band at point of sale.

Household Saints were the band for Just for Laughs for their Calgary shows in ’97, ’98 and ’99. This meant that we played our version of the Just for Laughs theme, as well as short instrumental songs as the comedians took the stage. We would also play a few songs after the comedians were done for the night. We had great fun and laughs!

The Household Saints had several television appearances. The A-Channel, The Big Breakfast morning show holds our most numerous number of live television performances. CTV lunch time news also had the band perform live in studio for one of their broadcasts. Shaw Cable had a 1 hour music special called New Music Machine which the band appeared twice in ’95 and ’96. Taping of the New Music Machine was held at King Richards in Calgary. Shaw then changed the name of the show to The Big Night Out and was taped at the Back Alley night club in Calgary. The Household Saints appeared for 2 tapings of this TV show. One of them has been transferred to DVD and contains songs not recorded or released anywhere else!

In 2000, the Household Saints had a video done for the song Gravity by students of the Banff College of Arts. This video has also been transferred to DVD and has never been aired on any video stations.

In 1996, the Household Saints played the wrap party for the popular TV series “Lonesome Dove-The Outlaw Years”. The party was held at Senior Frogs downtown location in Calgary, and was a great success! They particularly enjoyed our original songs and our live performance antics.

The Household Saints played many live music venues in Calgary, Canmore, Banff and surrounding areas. All of these venues helped us fund our recording efforts and deserve a great thank you from all the members of the Household Saints. Without them, we would not have been able to try our songs out on live audiences, or record any of our original compositions.
